About me

My career as a photographer began at the Digital Imaging Resource Center (CTPID) of the Universidad Francisco Marroquín in 2001. My job was to conduct tecnical evaluations of the three digital camera formats, high resolution scanners and large format printers. Major projects during this period where:

Digitizing Indigenous Dress textiles from the Ixchel Museum.
Photography for the exhibit: Kakaw, Chocolate in Guatemalan Culture, Popol Vuh Museum of Archaeology.
Digital reproduction of works of art from various Guatemalans artists .
Digitization of historical documents from the library of the UFM.

Then in 2005 I co-founded the FLAAR Mesoamerica, a FLAAR extension operating in Guatemala. The institute research focus is on technologies for cultural heritage documentation. Photogrammetry, infrared photography, digital rollouts and digital flatbed cutters were some of the techniques explored. Also we initiated the research program in 3D laser scanners and rapid prototyiping technology. All my publications are online in the network of sites www.flaar.org

In 2007 I counseled photographer Ange Bourda in his transition from analog photography to digital medium format. After we worked on the production of "Istmo", a book that collects images of the tour we did in from Guatemala to Panama in helicopter. My responsibility in the project was the administration and edition of the 9000 images for publication in the book.

I have worked on several photo-documentaries focusing on biodiversity, nature and culture of Guatemala, one of the most important one I have done is with UNESCO and the Ministry of Culture of Guatemala on "La Paach" a Mayan ceremony linked to maize, which is on the verge of extinction. I have also done commercial photography for models, for different food products and advertising companies.

In 2010 I had my first international exhibition in one of the most important photography fairs and recognized worldwide, "Photokina" which takes place in Cologne, Germany.
